The New Theatre

YeatsThe words of William Butler Yeats burns deep in the many hearts of those who perform here, at Temple Bar’s New Theatre. For those who love performances and the arts and for many who have never explored this area, the New Theatre is the type of place where stars are born. Located at the core of temple bar, this establishment was created to encourage and promote new creative ideas, and encourage all new artists, directors and writers to discover their full potential.
What is one of Temple Bar’s oldest buildings has now opened its doors to the creativity of the future. With only 66 seats the theatre that has managed to recreate the passion the intensity that is embedded within performing. Opened in 1997 the theatre is partly funded by Dublin City Council, The Arts Council, Unesco, One City one book and by private funding. Recently nominated for the Irish Times Judges special award, over the years the New Theatre has hosted a line of successful productions such as the recent sell out play “Lockout”.
The future is bright for this energetic and lively playhouse as it hopes to carry this tradition alive with “Desire” an adaptation by Peter Reid which is set to open on March 25th.
